Could someone please explain to me what's happening here? Do you think the equity funding was leaked before the SP dropped? Was the bank in a lot worse position then we have been led to think?
Do you think new shares will be issued to raise 250 M at around 30-40 p? I don't understand how this could have gone so horribly wrong in 2 weeks if the bank was doing OK and basically making profit.
Why did the share price suddenly fall by over 50%? Where there perhaps some in the know that the bank needed to to raise about 250mn in equity funding, doubling of shares of a 2 M Mcap company will lead to 50% deduction of the currently existing shares.
This institution is obviously doing a lot worse than we have been led to believe. Very disappointing stock indeed.
LegalBeagle, I'm so surprised as to why people like you think they know more than e.g. hedge fund specialists who study these things day-in day-out and who have structures to determine where they should invest. Metro is definitely on their radar and has been studied.
Why not sell then?
I am down on this stock but considering selling. I don't understand the lack of movement. Seems to be a very valuable shelve company. What's going on here?
Can I give someone the agency to vote for me? Against liquidation of course! It's peanuts but still. Might help.
Huge disappointment I bought this at 2p per share with all set to go. Since then someone has been selling aggressively, Lanstead? I wonder if we will ever get back to 2p that would be a 10x increase and someone would make a good buck from that I'm 90% down at the moment.
Fantastic Trisor, it will be a granite palace in the Baroque style (or a style of your choosing) the French stone masons are on the line and ready to come down sometime late summer!
I will build you a Castle in Murcia, I am an architect living in Andalucia, after this explodes and you buy your land get in touch!

The SP has crashed but the company is still worth a decent house in Holloway, I think it would be unwise to sell now. The risk has increased exponentially but so has the EoI potential. What I invested here in the beginning was money I was fully aware I might lose. Now that I have lost 95% I won't sell the peanuts that I have left as I still believe in the technology and hope for recovery.
Mulder, try to read a book or take a course in creative writing, you would be far more effective in your degradations if you did. Considering the time you spend here... might be worth the while for you. You could even start sounding sophisticated, or God forbid creative, although I doubt it... I mean shorting an AIM-stock? Perhaps slightly better than a street pusher.... only perhaps...
Hopefully Irish, the other two responses didn't quite interact with what you were saying. It's a very volatile situation and unfortunately I didn't follow my own advice and take profits couple of weeks ago so I have been wondering if there is a real risk of metro going under and I am afraid there is. On the other hand I believe in the future of the Metro model. I like their emphasis on good customer service and I think that not being an investment bank might be of help to them during the coming storm. I also hope the big wigs will decide to print their way out of this, as they have before so metro will surely profit from that if it's still around. I don't see Odey having much to do with it. The big funds are speculating on upwards or downwards movements. It is probably a good indicator on where the SP goes short term as his analysis is surely more sophisticated than ours but then again all of us who have bought into this bank are betting against him. We will see who is right... if Metro turns profitable this year we will be proven right, looking at the horizon, wars, inflation, defaults, it might be Odey.
Is this highly sophisticated guesswork here? What are the processes you use to arrive at this guess? Have you read the annual report of Metro and compared it to that of, say Lloyds? Or is it more a feeling you have? Like I feel there is going to be a south-wind in Gibraltar on the 20th of April because it just sounds right?
Eat your hat PDiddy1, a significant drop today, Q4 profitability not enough to assure the market. Agree with CyberDog rate rise will increase risk UK economy head into recession.
Might be a good time to take profit, if any.
