Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
covid, let's be honest, was an absolute gift of an opportunity for investors.
Yes lots saw the value of their portfolio plummet and lost money as they all jumped out on the way down (which was what made all the stocks crash).
I'm sure many if not most recouped those losses grabbing a bargain or three on the way back up.
As always hindsight is such a great thing and although there were mega deals everywhere you looked it was so hard to judge the bottom...
Looking back I had (well, we all did) the chance to make a small fortune if i had the balls to execute my conviction. One biggie was the oil when it went negative. I actually bought a load on a leveraged cfd at around 750, but only sold at a small profit, fearing the bounce would not hold and the incoming lower low would over - expose me and my family financially at a time when it seemed the world was collapsing around us and i felt it more prudent to play it safe. Well obviously the lower low never happened and we all know where oil is now. I would have cleared my fairly substantial mortgage and had money spare, all in the space of 18 months or so!
oh well. Sure we all have stories similar to that.
'There may be inexperienced potential investors looking in and reading your posts, which could mislead them.'
Isn't that his intention? Isn't that how rampers operate?
well maybe not. Maybe he's authentic but merely naive...
We will never know, as a rampers' no 1 rule is never admit to being a ramper.
'I'm very confident here!'
No ****. Can't deny that.
Being hypothetical about a positive outcome(well we have to no?), I've had the feeling for some time that we may see a sell on news event, rather than the upwards rocket that most expect.
Of course, this isn't a problem longterm since if you're able to sit it out the SP will come round again and much more at some point.
Just mentioning this as those looking to make a quick buck/unable to stomach a drop due to needing the funds short term could be caught out.
Anyway, be interesting to see how it plays out.
GL all. And goodnight.
i think it wise to use a flexible dynamic approach when it comes to exit strategies, that match dynamic circumstances.
Having said that, i take my hat off to those who set limits and stand by them. There is no right or wrong way but finger on the pulse is more likely to give the best returns imo(although that is much easier said than done!).
i, like everyone else I assume, have ball park figures which come into my head, and are then gone the next!
Suspect there is another small retrace on the way before the next leg up a approach d day. 20-25p should be quite realistic considering it is 'only' another 25% from here as the fomo kicks in
Thank you for that earlier post, it is interesting hearing different perspectives and circumstance of strangers all brought together in this little pocket of cyber space in the name of Beowulf.
I'm sorry about your wife. I don't have a large family, and my parents died young, but it must have been very tough not having any relatives at all..
You have made some very good choices and I have great admiration for you.
All the best.
whilst I agree with you extracover, I don't think we should be blaming any part of the demographic, we are all part of the broken system.
The young, unfortunately have no choice. They can't function without a phone, they are hard wired into it from very early on, and don't know any different. social is both addictive and poisonous in equal measure. What's more, they are bombarded with non stop advertising instructing them in what they must buy, and how they should live. A phone will quickly go out of date these days, and apple even admitted to inserting a battery killer into software updates to accelerate this.
We are trapped!
Anyway, sorry to indulge again in my dystopian musings, especially today.
We are all out for ourselves to a degree. we can't help that.
greed is defined by two things - how the money is obtained, and where it is distributed. My money so far has been made here in BEM just by watching a few numbers on a screen and pressing a few buttons. Not a shovel in the ground. I have used it this far to provide a house for my children so they can play in a garden and sleep in their own bedrooms. This next round, any gains will go towards paying off the n mortgage, so that I am free. That's all I want. I don't seek great wealth, flash cars and lavish holidays. Just freedom, security, and happiness. Could quite easily dissappear to some remote island, a simple life off grid, running the trails, sailing the sea. A nice fire and a tonne of books...
Any ways Happy new year!
I don't think we need any help culling the population, that is coming a few generations down the line anyway, and will be as much of a problem as it will be a help.
lbjj speaks many truths, something which is reflected in his objective views on BEM amongst the sea of happy clappy optimism (not saying that's a bad thing!), he might well be sadly correct in saying our demise may well be unavoidable in the end, but we have to try to avoid this surely rather than indulge fatalistic laise faire attitudes. 8 billion people with hope and creative ideas, have a fair better chance of survival than the former...
Yes we are the lucky ones, possibly born at the height of humanity, into a free and prosperous land where quality of life has never been better; we've essentially won the lottery back to back three times over already (yet we still really care about a mining permit!).
one thing is clear, we need a revolutionary technological breakthrough, and we need it fast! Hopefully with a greater distribution of time and resources it will come. Perhaps in the form of the much talked about fusion reactors, although these appear to be but only on the distant horizon as yet.
Anyway happy new year Bemmers and Bemmettes!
problem is pocko, we're all in this together. we're all bathing in hypocrisy - you, me, greta, the sami. everyone. its impossible not to, as we can't function in this society we've created without being in disregard of the planet. It's a broken system, and whilst we try and figure out a way forward without reverting to living in caves, the lesser of two evils it must be while we attempt to transition. Electric vehicles being one of those things
she's holding up very well considering the sami curveball. Either the swedes have wind of something, or more likely are just willing to wait and see if they'll be suckered again. Prob the latter.
I think we'll have to hope that Thor is merely playing with them, allowing them a final due process in order to dot the i's and cross the t's before swatting them unceremoniously thereafter. If not, then of course Thor is another buck passer. Translations, extensions for extensions. All beyond laughable now.
ps Greta might not be everyone's cup of tea, and be synonymous with Wokeism, but her role is of utmost importance if you value the one place we have - earth. We've done a pretty good job of trashing the joint these past 200 years, and we are in a predicament. We can't just reset society, we are too dependant on the existing framework so transition is the only way. Problem is, it may be too slow. We might be too late. Change won't and can't come from top down; it's all very good imposing restrictions on things and bringing in new legislation, but it's a change of mentality that's needed most, a fresh outlook of the mind that's most importance which will spearhead real change and match the urgency of the situation before us.
the majority of the older generations are inherently entrenched in 'this life' and cannot see different. The real change has to come from the youth, and Greta plays her part as a figurehead and catalyst. Like it or not.
There's never a good time, but seems especially Cruel what with Xmas and also a positive decision seemingly imminent.
Kevin (and who knows how many more) should've been repaid for their investment in the company and faith in the system a long long time ago. benefits
The clue is in the word 'work'. If we are doing what we wish to do with our time, then it is not work. Good luck roller. May a ask what ballpark we are talking, before the letter is sent?
Well, just having a catch up and I'm glad I tuned out this week until now. Could see the dip coming a mile off, so gave this board a miss until good 'ol BEM popped up again on the leader board this afternoon. 9p! That would've been painful had I known...
But the facts haven't changed to warrent lbjj's change of heart; his negative outlook continued beyond the recent statements and changes of office. He even admitted himself that the reason was not factually influenced, rather an infection of positivity brought about by other posters.
I think this was the point suzy was making. Or maybe I'm wrong.
the odds are certainly changing all the time, to a positive effect!
Just remembered another poster from the past : mWilliams (?) and his ever present single-word advice of
"patience"!! ??
wonder if he ran out of that himself in the end?
well I might as well pop my head up too, for those that may remember me (not that i was a particularly prolific poster).
BEM have been kind to me. Not to brag or preach, or to annoy those who hold high averages, but i bought back in 2015 ish at around 0.8p (I think), on a whim, largely because it seemed to have big upside potential, but also because I looked the name!
watched it burgeon up to 17.5p. I top sliced, fortunately, just before the flash crash of spring 2017 - can remember it vividly as I was walking in to school to pick up my son, checking the price on the phone hitting refresh aghast as it fell something like 40% in a matter of minutes!!
i still did handsomely though and used it to scrape up a deposit for our first house...
Been back in since a couple years ago @5.5p. Hoping this is our time for glory. Will probably settle for 20-25p if it comes.
If not, will just consign BEM as another to add to the scrap pile. Thats what these speculative punts are all about eh? Putting the weight of your portfolio behind it is like playing the lottery. These plays imo should reside in the 'play money' proportion of your account; they can provide a nice big bonus, but equally can be written off without too much damage.
Good luck all.
There are plenty. Don't even know my average as I wrote these off a long time ago. Last I remember were holding around 5p and considering settling at 7p but got greedy waiting for 9 and... Well, you know, before I knew the proverbial hit the fan. S**t happens. Fortunately my portfolio has been strong enough elsewhere to ride out these disappointments.
Someone is on the same page as me. For once I see my exact thoughts mirrored elsewhere.
1b-9b people in 250 years.
We are a runaway train on a one way ticket to oblivion, eating the planet alive.
Unfortunately most individuals are unable to look beyond their tiny snap shot of time, caught up in their trivial bubble. Seeing the bigger picture impossible to them. Buying and selling shares being just one of them!
Going even deeper, perhaps this is why advanced alien life is not present - because each and every civilisation that rises cannot progress through the industrial /technological age and become multi planetary without burning their own house down.
Anyway, enough of that. I wonder what lies round the next corner for GCM..
