I know they are not obligated to supply such information but you are missing the point. If they are so keen to tell us they are going to apply where is the harm in answering a simple question on whether they have done so or not.
Anyway, we are going round in circles . Some believe it's odd they won't answer yes or no and others think it's fine to mention it then clam up about it.
"I didnt expect there to be any announcement of them filing for that status"
Without wanting to seem argumentative that just doesn't hold water. The are quite happy to tell the world that they intend to apply for such status but then don't seem to want to tell pi's whether they have done so. Seems very picky about what they wish to divulge even though Dan appears to enjoy a chat on Telegram.

"Would you be so kind as to inform this investor whether you have yet applied for orphan status?"
I can't see why peeps find the above ambiguous.
The simple answer to that question is either "yes it has been applied for" or "no, we haven't applied for it yet."
The answer I received was right out of the nfx answer book.
Questions.
When asked about information from investors relating to the sp.
Answers
Tell them sfa and use as often as possible when constructing an rns the words "if" "perhaps" and "maybe". When it comes to announcing any payments to nfx, describe them as significant etc even though they are derisory .

Yes or no
FX is totally right.
I asked if it had been applied for yet, not whether it had been granted. So my question wasn't answered.
Obviously when and if it's granted there will be an announcement as such as the bod have attached so much meaning to obtaining it.

My email to nfx and Tim's reply, which I'm sure he won't mind me posting to other investors
"Would you be so kind as to inform this investor whether you have yet applied for orphan status. "
Tim's reply
“NXP002 is a likely candidate for Orphan Drug Designation”, but it has not been granted this status yet. The company is focussed on discussions with potential licensees for NXP002 and further updates will be provided as soon as appropriate."
Best regards
Tim

"It would be a positive if approved but I don't see how just saying it's been applied for is going to make any difference to the share price"
Sorry, but positive news can help the share price and quite frankly it's the right thing to do to keep shareholders informed on what appears to be a major step forward according to bod.
ATB
So you're saying that the bod are not going to give it's shareholders the heads up on whether orphan status has been applied for. Wonder why not? Thought it would be a positive thing to announce, which makes one think it hasn't been applied for I guess
"It seems that Pharma's essentially require this as a necessary condition before examining whether to invest in a new drug."
And yet for years the company intimated discussions were on going. Yet this Orphan status has never been mentioned before.
Why if it's so very important?
Depends at what price the 75 million are going to hit the market at and what affect it will have on the sp over time. We've seen it in the past.
People thought my selling at .55p was strange after all those years. I think it's strange more haven't sold earlier and is so upbeat about nfx could have tripled/ quadrupled their holding in the company. Hind sight is great thing I know, but I guess with 99% of holders it's the fear of missing out.
So with the sp sitting at .2's, which some thought we would never see again, and always a mistake with nfx. Just as I thought some time ago we would bottom out at 3.5p, whoops. I can't see anything to stop the slide a bit further as any news to bolster the sp seems months away according to the telegram thing as reported by older.
