RE: Why down?10 Apr 2025 04:55
Every share that is bought is at the same time sold and vice versa. There can not be a different number of buys than there were sells. Hence, the Buys and Sells numbers you see here must be some derivative statistic specifically defined for this website. For example, Yahoo Finance does not show any such numbers.
I could not find any manual or FAQ on this website, so I am going to make a guess what Buys and Sells means. If anybody can correct me, please do so. When a trade is done with the last known Ask price, it counts as a Buy. When a trade is done at the last Bid price, it counts as a Sell. A lot of Buys suggest a bullish trend while a lot of Sells signal a bearish trend.
In this way, Buys and Sell seem to be intended to reflect the overall sentiment for the day. However, it can also be misleading. For example, when a new seller comes in with a limit price below the existing Ask which is also the latest price done. When a new buyer accepts that lower price, the trade counts as a Buy. This Buy counts towards the bullish trend, however the price just dropped.
Note that I am answering your question based on an assumption on what Buys and Sells means on this site. By definition, these must be somewhat concocted numbers and I would not attach too much value to them.
