So nearly 9am no rns? did you believe one of the rampers? with phorm never believe anything until you seethe proof and lack of verifiable details
I notice them normal spin in th announcement talking of 20m users per day an them 80billion impressions looks impressive but do the maths and that is only about 130 impressions per user per day but if you have rotating banner ads how long does it take to show them impressions also note the lack of information on con ersion rates, Just a warm fluffy "industry leading conversion rate" statement as others have said there is money to be made on the ups and downs just don't get caught out and phrm will need a lot more cash before they could get anywhere near self sufficient
Phorm cant become google as they offer no search engine and a lot of their content in previous attempted deployments appeared to be copies of rss feeds also do you think the local baidu service is going to let them in easilly? also remember the Chinese are good imitators and reverse engineers, and phorm have no protected IP as they have no granted patents research carefully DYOR
If normal updates occur the next update will be April when the next cash call is likely to be, or last working day in June when they publish the FYRs for up til the end of this year if in doubt look back over the RNS announcements to confirm the liklyhood of above as always DYOR
why the quetion marks BRT? i thouht you had all the answers
@rereearthshare care to give the link an date of that information or are you trying to miss represent old info as current??
@ blackrocktrader care to answer how phorm can succeed where google, facebook, twitter etc have failed / been banned in china, and china then made home grown clones of those services? a RNS and BS / trial mean nothing, and phorm have yet to deliver any volumes in any country they have tried, i think you will find from phorms own figures they have made less than 100k of income from selling advertising over 6 years and failed in 6 countries especially as phorm have no valid patents protecting their "technology"
interesting post on avdfn by swong21118 which seems to sum up what we have been saying for some time So this tech is considered as "illegal" in EU and the bods of Phrm believe it will become a heat in china even though Facebook, google and twitter are banned in china? there are Chinese version of Facebook, eg, renren, QQ, Wechat, engine search, eg baidu, Chinese version of eBay, Taobao. Please can someone enlighten me that what makes people think Phrm will make a killing in china?" anyone care to answer that on, how can form succeed where google, facebook, twitter etc have failed / been banned
if, and it is a big IF there is a RNS monday read it carefully and digest any information (if there is any) in it before hitting the buy button my guest is more vague numbers, no info of where they relate to and vague dates
wonder if we will see any sign of life / pulse today? other than the graph slipping down again wonder if we will see any sign of the "update / RNS" that blackrocktrader keeps on about, i doubt it other than spin and BS i doubt much will occur today from the rampers it seems good verifiable news for phorm is like father chrismas, people believe he exists, lots of imitations of him but the real one don't exist
going on previous history with phorm, you get a nod of a cash call, you then get a "good news / we are deploying in xx" RNS to boost sp, a few days or so later an announcement of placing (usually at a high price than the sp) then nothing and the sp slides back down look at the RNS pattern, and compare to the SP see if you spot a similar pattern, current sp due to day traders making a few pounds, best of luck to them but they need to be quick when the placing rns comes out, normally short spike then dive
just noticed this, re time scales in the bit of RNS i posted below " It is expected that over the coming months the Company will start its test campaigns" notice the wording, "coming months" not weeks but months, before it starts its "test campaigns" read that as trials so definitely do not appear to be anywhere near commercial deployment so my reading of the RNS based on 6 years of following this company is they have tested the capture method of the ISP customers, no mention of the opt-out mechanism being tested or the advert serving tech or the decision making tech being tested, in previous markets the opt-out option has caused them legal issues (in turkey even got them fined), they prefer optout as few people can be bothered to change a default the decision making tech has been problematic, when they ran the trial with BT it was supposed to run real time, but introduced delays and broke things due to latency and capacity issues, they then went to an off-line model which removed part of their unique selling point the ad serving tech also has landed them with question as they injected the adverts into the data stream on the fly, so altering the data transmitted by the web server which falls fouls of a lot of privacy legislation around the world (like DPA and PECR in EU), i think they have again had to change that to a link, but they also tamper with the contents of third party cookies to add the "random number / unique ID" to them without the third party consent do some research many issues for them still to overcome, with the revelation of snooping by NSA (prism) people are becoming more aware of privacy and how tech is used to snoop
the normal cycle seems to be continuing good news RNS, sheep jump in, sp rises, shortly after begging bowl revealed, looking at the RNS again "The Company is now in the process of commercializing its operations and is currently negotiating with both advertisers and publishers. It is expected that over the coming months the Company will start its test campaigns before moving to commercial operations." so all they "may" have done is tested the opt-out process, they normal modus operandi is by default opt people in so the need to opt-out to avoid being caught by the system that last bit "will start its test campaigns before moving to commercial operations." means they have not served a single advert?? no mention of campaigns ready to go either don't sound ready for launch, not even run a trial, which is where they normally fail as the technology has failed to work or scale before, breaking all sorts of applications and web programs beware, reading the actual content they are nowhere near commercial deployment
no trades, no movement even though PHRX took a dive over the last week or so about time the MM's knocked 15-20p of the sp on this one
have a look at the last FYR and see just how few assets they have, then do a search on the patents website etc and find out they actually have no visible granted patents as they have all been rejected on grounds of lack of novelty or prior art (some else has already patented the idea) so the question is what are these loan notes actually secured on?
customers not happy at new system of talk talk's following them around the web see https://nodpi.org/forum/index.php/topic,2991.0.html http://www.the-phoenix-broadband-advice-community.co.uk/index.php/topic,1828.0.html complaints made to police by several customers peter
i wonder if the brazillians are starting to link all the phorm products and history together and realise the threat to privacy it represents phorm's previous name of 121media and its people on page and apropos product which was clasified by several security vendors as a root kit (see http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00001420.html) and then when 121 media changed its name to phorm, the product became page sense / proxysense which was then trialed by BT without telling its customers (see http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2008/09/bt_phorm_and_me.html, lots of links and http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/17/bt_phorm_lies/) then once the news broke and phorm made the announcement of "contracts" with BT, Virgin Media and Talk Talk in the UK the product was unvealed as WEBWISE then there was the news of korea telecom (KT) and the product QOOK SMARTWEB, which relied on a widget curiously enough the news of the widget webwise disvoer was launched in the UK that could not run it as no ISP was willing to deploy phorms Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) kit for anything but a trial (see http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/03/phorm_webwise_discover ) and when BT did trail Webwise last year, they noted performance issues as soon as the DPI kit was turned on (see page 2 http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/07/10/phorm/page2.html "one source revealed. Significant slowdown was measured when the deep packet inspection probes were switched on") also about the same time, there were some very strange DNS issues on BT adsl reported in BT's user forums (now deleted and replaced with a new forum system by BT) then lastly the news of brazil, rumoured for the last 6 months, and finally announce a few weeks ago, the "new" product was a widget called "Navegador", looking very like the webwise discover widget, part of Qook smartweb, still relying on the DPI (snooping) backend system monitoring everything a person does on the internet one thing i have not seen in the brazillian news is if they have resolved the issue of permission of the websites visited by people being monitored by phorms sytems, as this was a major issue in the EU / UK as due to intercpetion / wiretap legislation here in the UK / EU you need permission from both sides of a communication or you need a warrant / court order peter
So we currently have uncomfirmed (by telco or phorm) of a brazillian contract imminent. but they appear to have lost the chance of the lucrative US,Canadian,UK and EU markets due to existing or pending legislation, that has knocked 90+% off their estimated revenue stream they are now having to look at the minor less regulated markets where people have far less disposable income that has reduced their estimated income from over a billion dollars to less than 50 million per year, thats quite a hit, after paying the isp's and advertisers their shares they will have only about 15-20 million with that level of income they will struggle to pay their existing outgoings without the costs of servicing accounts peter
so 2009 started off with lots of "exciting news", then kent proclaimed "BT would roll out webwise by the end of the year", shortly followed by bt,vm and tt dumping webwise and phorm, also we had the exciting news of KT running a trial then silence so since mid summer no news, no exciting news, just rumours to try and push the sp up a bit to limit losses and less than 12 months cash in the till (assuming cash burn rate is still 1.1million / month) suddenly in the autumn phorm pulled the page listing it's directors, then shortly after 1 or possibly more left december we had the RNS news item showing they had to buy back a load of shares from an ex-employee so all not looking good for phorm internally, was it cost cutting or people thinking time to leave? we shall never know looking forward going on the public information about the timelines for KT and uk isp's it takes 12-18 months from talks to technical trials so unless phorm are well on the way they will run out of money before any new trials can be run even if the trials were run today, the post trial evaluation seems to take 4-6 months then assuming they were ok it will take several years before break even from advertising revenue (look back at the projected income etc of the charles stanley report) so phorm in my view will either fold in the next 6-9 months due to running out of cash or make another call for cash spring/summer if they can find anyone to buy in bottom line 2010 will be a make or break year for phorm before buying these shares do your own research carefully and beware of rampers for this stock peter
