Even mild coronavirus illness leads to antibodies: French study raises hope of immunity for Covid-19 patients who escaped severe symptoms:

Researchers analysed the blood of 160 medics who all had a mild form of Covid-19 and had not needed hospital care.

They found 99.4 per cent of the group had antibodies to the virus 13 days after their symptoms, which signals they have some form of protection against it.

With regards to the test progress, we are now consistently picking up positive samples across the range, including weak positives, whilst ensuring negative samples are not detected. We have conducted a small-scale study of 66 samples and results suggest the test is performing in line with design requirements. We expect to reach design freeze in June, which will allow us to move onto scale up, verification and validation activities, prior to the test being made available for manufacture.

In parallel with the above activities, we are working with Government and regulatory authorities to ensure proper approval of the test as quickly as possible.

The consortium is working with NHSX to develop a test specific app and digital service that will facilitate use and reading of the test device. This will have the ability to integrate with NHS systems and update records.

Finally, given the scale of the potential demand for the test within the UK, critical planning around supply chain logistics is also well under way, which will ensure a smooth introduction of the test directly to the public.

Approval in May of two tests made by pharmaceutical giants Roche and Abbott mean testing is finally under way for healthcare workers in Britain but experts say it could have happened months ago if officials had acted faster.

Of the tests currently in use in the UK, the EuroImmun IGg ELISA test used by PHE was found by one study to be just 67 per cent sensitive, the Roche test's sensitivity averages between 87 and 88 per cent, and Abbott's test averages 93-94 per cent.

Nowhere near 10% being claimed. Apparently our required government standard is higher than both and the UKRTC is on the way to achieving this

If that were the case how has Abbot's test only achieved about 93-94% accuracy surely would only be around 10%. Also from 66 samples the consortium achieved results line with high government expectation. Even the Chinese product achieved 60% sensitivity!!

I think one needs to look at what sets GDR from the rt pcr competition:

Simplicity: adding a human sample directly to a manufacturerer prepared PCR pellet.
Being able to distribute the plates at ambient temps
Cytiva backing
CE marking (specifity)
