Yes, but the discount rate starts from the risk free rate and then you add various premiums on top for different risks. So if the risk free rate goes up 5%, you'd expect the discount rate to move up by at least 5%.

The fact the brokers have barely changed price targets is sort of my point made. Unless they're arguing the company happened to derisk itself at EXACTLY the same amount as the risk free rate increased.

It doesn't affect me personally as I'm a LTH and not trading any time soon but the spreads on Shield are ridiculous. Why is it 7% when the volumes are actually not bad?!

I'm a LTH here and would love to see this stock reach the highest heights but I find these broker valuations absolutely ridiculous. It's done on a probability adjusted NPV calculation that is VERY sensitive to the discount rate used. Despite the risk free rate surging by 5%+, the discount rates being used are unchanged. Why is that?

As I said in a previous post, there's too much excitement in both directions on here. When the stock moves 10% upwards, there are loads of posts about STX being acquired. When the stock moves 10% downwards, the shorters pipe up and talk about the company going to zero.

If you're a long term holder, stay calm and wait for the company to break even in Q4 2024 or soon after.

Aren't there milestone payments expected to be reached and associated payment from VTRS?

Also, cash burn should be decreasing dramatically as sales ramp up to the 125k mark.

As soon as Shield passes the break even point, they will have much more bargaining power when it comes to doing a deal. For now, all I want to see management talk about is number of months to break even.

It's funny how the stock is trading within a range of 6-9p or so and every time it pops up, everyone thinks we are being acquired. Then silence or sorrow as it trades down again.

I think we won't have meaningful movement outside of the range until we have a meaningful update!

Feel like someone thinks there's some good news to share ahead of the AGM. I'm hoping for 20k in Q2 and an increase in average price.

We need the price to break through the recent ceilings of 9p and 12p.

It's even easier than that: Shield is dual listed (STX LON) and (SHIEF US) so there is already a mechanism for US investors to buy it. I asked around about this and the consensus was that larger US institutional investors would 'prefer' companies to have a main listing in the US on a large exchange. It's a sign that perhaps they think the market cap of Shield will one day be appealing to major us institutional investors... All well and good sending these signals and messages but I'd focus on building the business first.

I have to say, given that this stock is already dual listed, I don't fully understand this! I spoke to a couple of bankers when they dual listed and they thought it was a ridiculous waste of money at the time. I hope GM and co know what they're doing but I would personally prefer they deliver a proper, profitable, desirable business BEFORE they worry about stuff like that. Maybe something to shelve for 18 months?

I hate to say 'I told you so' but this is exactly what I said in my previous post. Flat / low sales growth in Q1 because the sales team hadn't bedded in yet. What matters is how they progress from May 1st onwards imo! GLA

I think a flat(ish) Jan - April is exactly what I expect. That followed by a large ramp up thereafter. This is supported by the IQVIA data which is flat for Jan and Feb so far... But what do I know! DYOR

I really doubt H1 2023 number will be very strong honestly. They've been training up the sales teams so expect the first 3-4 months of the year to be flat at best. Once they teams are in place, I'm really hoping for this birdie to fly!

The RNS's where the company are making CFO type annoucements are on Thursdays - i.e. annual results, half year reports etc...
