I have been in since 7.32 on a tip from a man in the know, so its doing great for me. All the way up I have thought no it can't go any higher but then it proves me wrong!! lol I like the fact they keep finding new ways to use the PEEK and that there are no debts associated with the balance book. All good stuff!

Not read any of your posts and may not agree with everything Mitch says but I can see he does research his thoughts before posting. While your post has zero input about anything related to the company. I would rather read interesting posts about a business over somebody who can't win an argument who resorts to whinging about spelling anytime.

The reason they need them in is simple so they can sell lucrative contracts phones which Currys have never been any good at. The Link lets not forget was a disaster, the shops went when carphone phones 4u, orange, O2 etc were all opening up and competing for business the weak link was in a sad way with staff complaining that they could not keep pace with deals and stock which was no issue for the others. If contract phones were re-introduced using conventional Currys attitude ie 1 day training course for all staff off you go the same thing what happens to Sky/Virgin would happen poor/little sign-ups as nobody wants the hassle. Dedicate the role & staff incentivize them and you have a means to success.

What a smart move, it could have been done years sooner but hey were here now. Having the bloke who flogs washers offering you advice on a mobile in the DSGI multi task roll was the reason for pathetic mobile phone sales. The role is dedicated even Superdrug realised this with 3 so why has it taken DSG so long? There is still some way to go though. The games market is dominated by specialist stores who used to play dungeons and dragons and stores who have realised record sales ain't the future. DSG could muscle in on this territory to but again you cant just have the basic stand in the middle of the irons & kettle with Ken of 40yrs approaching you as every other staff member knows there is no stock.

Yes I read that BB had used DSGi staff in Thurrock, the difference being investors may know this but the public won't if BB take over DSG everybody will know. The sure fire way of knowing how BB are going spread across the UK is to have info of how much retail space they have or are attempting to acquire. Even during this recession good quality retail space (IE on a good park with a unit which has good square footage), This is what DSG have. Finding warehouse/logistics space is a lot easier.

I don't think BB will go near DSG, if such a takeover happened and the shops & staff converted over most customers would see it as a wolf in sheep's clothing. Lets face it DSG has a poor customer service record, would all the knockers suddenly start shopping there if the signage changed blue? If BB can find the locations (and this is a big factor in any takeover decision), I think they will go it alone & build a solid base.

Ok I think we need to remember that this is forum for the discussion of an investment point of view not a staff forum or customer survey. Mitch I don't know if you still work for DSG or have recently left but its clear your not a happy bunny. If there that bad leave. As a former worker shop mergers pension cuts etc sound terrible but what from an investment angle? Reduced overheads. Justbuy sell, If I wanted a laptop I would go where I can find 2 main things. 1, a good range & 2, competitively priced. Very few customers think of the backup/customer service before they buy. I used to see customers telling me they would never shop with DSG again only to see them walking in the next week for a washer! Why because of range & price. The folk who drive around in the Rover that looks like a Jag may want to shop in John Lewis along with the blue rinse lol but apart from Comet where else are you going to look for TV's, PC equipment, White goods etc? Answer on the retail park with the big Currys/Comet.

JB has as I see it put the company on course but we will still need to see an improvement in the economy before the shares will take off. This share was never a good short term buy (unless your Mystic Meg), the same applies to world cup rises small change in this current climate. What DSG have done is update & refresh the outlets improved customer service and cut costs which others point out can't happen every year but those costs are now under control we just need the recovery for the shares to pick up.

There was a massive increase in TV sales during the last world cup 4yrs ago but this also coincided with a time when we were ditching out TV box's for flat screens. Is there still a large proportion of people who don't have a flat screen TV? I can't see it, we are also in completely different territory with the economy a new TV is way down the list of where peoples money should be going. I forecast a small rise in sales but nothing special.

I think this an overall trend (think Athens Riots & hung parliaments), definitely worth a punt at these prices when normality re enters the markets and there is more certainty the share price will definitely bounce.

Don't forget there has been a rights issue on this share, previous share price would have been around 50p

I am not too sure the world cup will have such an impact as the last world cup 4yr ago. Back then most of us did not have an LCD/Plasma screen, how many of us don't have one now? Especially as a TV is such a bloke buy. IMO the shares still have some room for growth but I doubt we will see the heights reached previously which were always slightly artificially high due to the dividend being very generous.

It won't boost shares because DSG are not currently a take over target and any move would be seen as aggressive to JB's board. The article is taking about the next 3-6yrs not the coming months. If this article which has some credible in-site is to be fully believed shares would tumble as profit margins would narrow in any such price war. One big worry to me would be the lack of a strong own brand. DSG had Matsui as an own brand but over the years this brand has been eroded instead they ended up with any name under the sun provided it sounded Japaneesi (hey buyers there's another cheap name brand). I don't fully go with the article and Best Buy won't have it easy. There are bound to be teething issues, this is the UK not the USA which leaves it's own kind of issues for instance transportation and import costs will be massive compared to the states. The same goes for the buying department, Stirling fluctuations, and buying for a unique market were TV sets a big market within electrical have to be PAL-i & 240v you can't palm these off to France or the US if you get your market wrong.
