The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
5eights, I only read your post now so missed the report on BBC. I didn't see anything listed in the newspaper - therefore I'd like to know what programme it was that featured Woodford and what was its conclusion.
IT, "...and even one that undeniably works, Proton or whatever its called, now may not actually make money"....neither at this moment does Netflix or Uber but the market gives them a high value................ who knows where WPCT is going...... its just the high risk component of a balanced portfolio......
IT, certainly I don't have inside knowledge of the valuations but do have a belief in the integrity of independent valuers. Of course, they must align to market valuation as determined by fund raising rounds and quoted prices which themselves are subjective. But that is the nature of financial markets.
Secretly we all hoped that Woodford would walk away ... so relief at last that "The Board is in advanced discussions in relation to the ongoing management of the Company's portfolio and expects to be in a position to announce details of the new management arrangements shortly."
There may be kitchen sinking but some write downs have already been taken and I have (qualified) faith in the independent valuation process applied (the valuers have had plenty of notice that a crunch is coming.....)
I sold out before HRnet holding was revealed, but are they the only potential suitors for this company or is a counter bid a credible possibility?
Today Goldman Sachs added to their position which hopefully points the way... .
NigeCo, fully agree with you that ITV with its world class Studios must be a takeover target at some point (post Brexit Sterling devaluation). As The daughter of Sumner Redstone said in the link that you posted .... "My father once said 'content is king,' and never has that been more true than today.
Pete, this share is independent of the underlying investments and therefore the Patient Fund will not be "closed" in the way that withdrawals from the Equity Fund are currently suspended
Would have thought that the pension trustees want the company to continue trading so that further contribution can be extracted from the other two divisions that are trading profitably
Bertie, thanks for your clarification that GEP was diluted by the Placing and it was this that caused their percentage shareholding to reduce
Bertie, it was a reduction in % held ....any thoughts as to why GPE reduced
Drax.... presume that the Placing will generated some RNS.
But what are your thoughts on the reduction of GEP's shareholding reported in the later of today's RNS?
Bout, Liberty reports in US Dollars and any Liberty Shares offered in a bid will be worth more to a UK shareholder if Sterling is weakened by a disorderly Brexit. Therefore I speculate that, in the absence of a compelling catalyst and given other likely bidders being American, any bid will only come late in the year.
What will be the catalyst for a bid? IMO there's too much uncertainly around the exchange rate to take a chance that doesn't need to be taken.
We'll I can't see any bid coming before the direction of the Sterling/US dollar exchange rate has been set by the eventual outcome of Brexit. Then I hope to see some action!
Marty the daily NAV has been a standard published report since the start of the venture .It got nothing to do with FCA regulations as far as I am aware
The NAV process and the related checks and safeguards were outlined in the RNS dated 28 June. I'm sure the auditors will check it all very carefully at the next reporting date
Doesn't anyone see a positive upside to ITV Studio division when Netflix chooses London as it's base and its comments about the immense creative talent resident in the UK and the huge demand for English language programmes?
What PE value do you think is appropriate at this time?
Garydav, the RNS stated that "In the event that the Company does pursue an equity capital raise the Board anticipates also launching an Open Offer for an additional £7m to enable wider shareholder participation".
I expect that both new and existing shareholders would be able to buy at the same price in any Placing.
