XSIGemp….The two most profitable areas have been UK Roofing and France Roofing. UK Roofing remains profitable and some parts of the Manufacturing parts (Specialist Markets) make money. UK Construction Products does ok, but too much cost at the top of that division. As you’ll know, from what you say, previously the European businesses propped up the UK but that’s not been the case recently.

Teddy I remember waking up the morning of a previous full year results to the news that CD&R had invested, wonder if next week will being any surprises!

Shows how far this stock has deteriorated that good news next week might see the SP get back to the dizzy heights of 20p. Under the current CEO, the stock has fallen by roughly 70%, when comparable businesses like TP have fallen by half of that.

You can’t blame the market for simply being inept!

2Reincarnated….I don’t understand your enthusiasm (or forecasts)…last month you said when the SP hits 50p, the takeover offer will be 75p. You also said the SP will hit 40p after the March 5th results because all the bad news is factored in. In January, you also said the SP would be 40p be the end of Q2.

Now (surely a sign of dire things have become at SIG)….’Good News’ is an SP of 25p after the full year results?!?!

The only survival for SIG, is a cash raise or takeover, break the company up and make it smaller but more profitable. Another positive of a CD&R takeover would be they’d get rid of the idiots in charge.

CD&R were named the best private equity firm of 2024 by GrowthCap for the second year in a row. How low do they want this share price to go before the attempt a full takeover, break it apart and take the profitable bits (while there are some) or just get out and let the whole thing collapse!

The last time I remember SIG shares starting with ‘12’ it was £12….on its ways to £15 (a long time and many many dilutions ago)!

SIG really is the Man Utd of the industry, nostalgically clinging on to former glories and desperately trying to relive them with the constant churn of progressively worse people in charge!

Funnily enough, the song that plays in my mind when SIG announce (again) cost cutting, efficiency savings, exceptional costs and all that other BS, is ‘ Won’t Be Fooled Again ‘ by The Who!

I’m sure you’re right….I’m sure CD&R are so astute, they invested £85million 5 years ago and the fact it’s worth half of that, is just part of some shrewd strategic plan!

As for the market increasing this year…..the forecast is roughly 2.5% this year and roughly 4% next year….let’s watch the share price sky rocket!

I don’t think anyone can quite believe the Non-Exec board are still in place, particularly given their apparent fiduciary duty to shareholders. The only way any of the plc can be saved is, as you say, to break it up. CD&R need to make something happen, they have two people on the board and not only can they surely see how irreparably damaged this business is, but they own Wolseley and recently bought a Construction Products company, so they’re invested in companies that actively compete AGAINST SIG (!!!) You’d surely find a way to merge some of those or at least align them in some way and yet, despite all this mess, people on here talk about the share price being 40p by Easter! What planet are they on?!?

The business has been mis-managed from the top for nearly a decade (the stories I could tell!). Pretty much all of the top brass have only ever had their own best interests at heart, but the difference this time is when the current incumbents get found out, the business they've left will be beyond repair. Incredibly, the Non-Exec Chairman and even the Group FD have remained in place during the whole sh*t-show!

Can you believe some people are suggesting SIG have another rights issue, to raise funds and reduce the debt!! Didn’t we fall for that BS when we last bought in at 30p….who in their right mind would fall for that again!

Robbo666 ….completely agree….the same people on this forum who were excited a few years ago when the share price was 65p and apparently on the way to 90p, now seem excited that the share price will apparently go to 40p by Easter! Absolute Madness.

This business is bust. The part I know well actually performed well last year (one of only two parts) and even that’s gone backwards this year. The main UK Business is now run by a dinosaur who’s buying volume, spending a fortune entertaining customers who we already make f-all from.

We can all pretend to be surprised at mid-year when sales go up but margin and profitability go down!

There’s no value in this business for customers or shareholders!!

I just look at the facts….

A market that will show a marginal increase this year

A company whose fixed costs are much higher than the competition

A refinanced bond that requires roughly £15m additional interest to be paid each year

A company still riddled with debt

The largest shareholder bought in at a share price of 25p roughly four years ago and the share price has lost 40% since then

Not sure where the golden egg is coming from?!?

Two good quarters in a market that’s forecast to grow by 2.5% with most of the growth in H2…..you’ll have a while to wait!

Why are so many people believing the BS about cost cutting…..they’ve got rid of some people that’s all and some of those people were customer facing and they’ll go to the competition and take business with them…..its self defeating and does nothing to address the real cost issue, which is the HUGE fixed cost base. SIGs business model is a thing of the past and they’ll continue to lose ground to smaller, more agile competitors who actually invest in their people and their customers.

Teddy….its not as bad as I had feared, but the increasing debt is a concern. I apologise if I’ve come across as ‘bitter’ but my financial investment isn’t huge. My emotional investment in the company is though and it’s been heartbreaking (over many years) to see a company I care about be mis-managed from on high for so long and see so many good, experienced, genuine people leave to join the competition and weaken us further.

Ha ha….thanks Teddy, must just be a coincidence that the share price tends to go up the day before a trading update. I’ve no wounds to lick, just wouldn’t mind working for a company that has a longer term strategy than to just get a new MD every year or two.

Hearts2000 ….the market cap is right for now and could only be described as undervalued if you think the market is going to improve (which it won’t by much this year) and the business is a going concern (debateable). Under normal circumstances, you’d expect to see some decent buy-ins the day before an announcement as word leaks out about the forthcoming news….its been interesting to see the share price continuing to decline the day before the trading update.

Teddy….no, I’m a lifer and thankfully for a part that’s doing ok. Any bitterness is just from seeing constant change at the very top, all coming in with ‘new’ ideas, but there’s nothing new….its the same old ideas and when they don’t deliver what’s promised, they leave with their big payoffs, the workers try their best to rebuild it and we start again, with another snake oil salesman. SIG is always in panic mode, to be fair some of the previous guys had some good ideas and we seemed to be working together again, but because we always want instant results, they got binned off and we’re back to square one again.
