Interesting. Of course, it's only a model portfolio, but nevertheless their take on BCN seems to be somewhat at odds with what we're told.
We know that Lowry has adjusted his opinion, so I wonder why they still doesn't believe our project is viable? They appear adamant that we won't be able to extract lithium, which is at odds with the evidence.
I'd love to sit in a meeting between them, Secker, Hanwa and our other real investors.

No, that's not what he said. He was quite clear...the share hasn't been shorted.
As for what a CEO knows about his share price, provided his advisors are doing their job, believe me, he will know.
I've said it before and PS reiterated it yesterday, the reasons for BCN's sp collapse are as clear as the nose on your face. I know private investors love to speculate, and I'm as guilty as the next man, but in our case, the obvious answer was the right one.

Yes, let's hope so. This has been a very long saga and it's frustrating to know we're sitting on something so valuable but are still being held back. I remain convinced our time will come.
On a separate matter, one of the interesting things PS said yesterday was the reason behind the unwillingness of banks to get involved in the market. In other words, the inability to hedge their exposure to the commodity.
I know Barksy and others have pointed to various moves to create a derivatives market in lithium, but I wish they'd get on with it. Failure to do so is holding the whole thing back.
Mind you, how would it work given that so much of the World's production is sold under long term contracts and that so little is accounted for via the spot market?

This is part of the job of the Nomad and advisor and if you are a City participant, it isn't difficult to find out. Sometimes, I think people underestimate just how the City works. It's based upon continuous discussion, dialogue and gossip between the myriad of different firms, and a good broker/banker etc, will find out exactly what's happening. I did it for 15 years of my life and what it taught me is just how far removed the general public are from knowing what is actually going on. We are always way, way behind the curve and even the digital age hasn't improved matters much. As investors we are at a huge disadvantage; and that's just how the City likes it.

Obs, he said both. He specifically stated that there had been no shorting of BCN shares, but said that there had been shorting of other shares in the sector.
By the way, he completely ignored my question about the legal case against the COE estate. Having stated a long time ago that the company were pursuing this, I feel it's incumbent upon him to provide an update.
I was pleased to hear he'd listened to sense and dropped his somewhat daft idea of pursuing NextView.

Simon, I think you are absolutely right about 'closed-door' discussions. This issue is his number 1 priority and he'll be trawling the City streets meeting with every conceivable fund manager. I just hope he's not only relying upon Cannacord for the introductions. Remember, I was told he'd received commitments for $35m in London; so there's still a fair way to go.

Bannor, Secker answered the question about shorting of BCN's shares...there has not been any.

He concluded by saying that he'd answered 'all of the questions he'd received'. That's not true. He answered only 50% of those I submitted.
So, what to make of it?
First, my information (posted here) about the placing were correct i.e support was available in London but not elsewhere.
It is clear he's relying upon our existing shareholders for more support and he appears very confident that it'll be available.
We have indeed drawn down the first part of the debt package, but are running '6 to 8 weeks behind schedule'.
We are unlikely to get any news of the next part of the funding for the next two months.
He put his hands up to getting the timing wrong for approaching the market ( I said that this is Cannacord's responsibility and I maintain my view that they ferked it up)
I was not anticipating any revelations (that can only happen via RNS) , but my view is that he remains supremely confident and talks as if this is all a given, which it isn't. However RK must feel relaxed in as much as they advanced the $25m in the absence of the full package.

Pred, I'm not negative towards Whet and never have been. My comments have always been aimed at the exaggerated claims of certain people on here with regard to the chances of resurrection of WRN, the funding of the alleged deal flow and valuations, which I thought to be hugely misleading.

TC, yes, I did read bannor's post and I'm afraid to say I could see no real proof of the argument.
BCN's sp fall is easy to explain and I don't need to repeat it. But it ain't due to shorting.

TC, all supposition and guesswork. I prefer to rely upon proven facts.
When any share on AIM falls, there isn't a single one of these boards that doesn't go into meltdown as people start trying to blame shorting, or market maker 'games', etc, etc. There's virtually never any evidence to support these arguments, but I guess it's always the case that folk want to find a bogeyman.

Bannor, I'm afraid I don't buy into this shorting conspiracy. I've never seen BCN appear anywhere on the FCA published data. Sure, there may be the odd individual who may have taken a small position, but there aren't any large and influential positions, at least as far as I've seen.

I wonder if we'll have an RNS first thing Monday? He can then use the conference call to explain matters.

there's an interview on there today with some bloke called Green in which he discusses the lithium market, KDNC and BCN. To be honest, he appears to know less than most of us, but if you're looking for a bit of confirmation bias, give it a go.
BTW, that bloke Justin Waite is, as Del Boy would say, 'a complete plonker'.

I'm convinced the BCN announcement has been forced by shareholder pressure, so don't therefore buy-in to the conspiracy bit.
It was an almighty balls-up and some explanation is undoubtedly required.
