Rich, I didn't word my post clearly.
From what I could see, KB was implying that because the share prices of the various companies he mentions are x, y or z, that ours should be, or become, similar. I know it's possible I misinterpreted his post, but the price of its own is irrelevant.
I saw someone else post something similar on another board today. He was trying to equate one company with another by saying because their sp was 4 p, so should ours. Obvious nonsense.

TheItalian, to me the protestations of "going it alone" ring very hollow.
I know people will argue they are not the same, but there are lessons to be learnt from both BCN and SXX. Both companies argued until they were blue in the face that they too would self-fund and "go it alone". Of course, it didn't happen. And the reasons were simple: funding for large mining projects is extraordinarily difficult to source. And this is before we've even considered the fact the business models of both of our main shareholders do not include being minority shareholders. (I'm referring to companies at production stage, not exploration vehicles)
I guess we'll continue having this argument until the evidence emerges, one way or another. In the meantime, I remain deeply sceptical of NM's claims.

EBITDA, one of the points to raise in your meeting concerns the role Mr Earley had in this saga.
At the time, he was banned from being a company director. One of the restrictions this imposes is that an individual cannot be involved in the running or promotion of a company. I guess the extent to which he was "promoting" WHET is a moot point and worthy of investigation.
It would also be interesting to unravel the identity of some of those characters on this page who were so blatantly misleading people...most of whom have disappeared into the ether.

There is a new Newcrest presentation available and we barely get a mention, which is difficult to understand. Haveiron and GGP get significant coverage.
What are people's views on this? I'm confused. Is it simply that they've highlighted us so much in the past it would be mere repetition? Or is it because something's going on and they wish to keep it off the radar?

Earthling, I'm afraid the third of your reasons remains extant and I'm wholly convinced is the main reason for the lack of progress.
Everything else is so positive, but this referendum issue is holding us back. I'm beginning to wonder if the best way forward is to actually hold a referendum, which we would hopefully win, and thus put the issue to bed once and for all. In the meantime, it's weighing us down like an anchor.
As I understand it, the people in Azuay have a couple of weeks left in which to form the wording of a referendum, which will then be submitted for approval. If they do so within the parameters of the Constitution, I assume the process will begin in that region. I think we can assume other areas of the country will follow suit.
From everything I've read, we look to be in a good position at Casacbel, but I'm less certain of the others. Either way, the risk remains.

According to an article in Northern Mining yesterday, the ruling by the Constitutional Court definitely does give the right to communities to hold referenda on mining in their areas.
They failed last time because they way they framed the question didn't give communities the "full freedom of choice" (not sure I understand this). Provided they now pose the question in a "legitimate way", the referendum can go ahead.
In the first instance, the appeal process has been led by people in the Azuay region, where we have Sharug, but I think we can assume similar pressure in Imbabura.
The government must do something to address this ongoing problem. My guess is that it would require a change to the Constitution, which I assume wouldn't be straightforward.
We know a pro-mining candidate won the local election last year, but it would certainly be useful to get a feel of overall public opinion.

However, if the government wants to deliver on these ambitions, it really is going to have to do something about this referenda issue. The uncertainty it causes is not helping anyone.

I'm afraid I don't trust that EUA story at all. Something very fishy. Of course, I may be totally wrong, but it all seems far too good to be true.

I certainly agree with toneman's assessment of the possibilities, but the fact remains that this is a small, loss-making company with very small revenues. For me, at the moment, a valuation of half a billion seems excessive.
However, the simple fact is many other people disagree and it's their purchases that have led the market to value the company accordingly. In other words, the market is doing what a market always does.
The only fear would be if people suddenly decided it had reached a full enough value and started to sell; as has happened previously.
Longer term, the company is very placed and as a long term hold, it's very interesting.

Indeed! We've all done it. Mind you, I still struggle with Fevertree's valuation.
