RE: An outlandish thought, or is it?20 Sep 2025 18:26
Yesterday, I caught up with an 80M shareholder for a chat. I got to know him from attending AGMs. I live in Hampton Court, Surrey but used to live in Winchester, Hampshire. Since the shareholder lives in Hampshire, we met in Winchester in one of my favourite pubs there. That alone was super enjoyable, and on top of it, we freely exchanged our thoughts over a pint and some lovely food. During our chat, I shared a thought with him, which one might regard as outlandish.
When I started this thread on 24 Aug 2025 14:14, I asked the question of whether 80M might merge with, or be taken over by, Greenland Exploration Limited.
The Pelican announcement just two weeks later, on 10 September 2025, confirmed that Pelican Acquisition Corporation, Greenland Exploration Limited and March GL would merge into a single entity called Greenland Energy Company to be listed on NASDAQ under the ticker "GRLD" in Q4 2025. On the very same day of the Pelican announcement, 80M released an RNS. We learned from the RNS that Rod McIllree would represent 80M on the Board of Greenland Energy Company (GEC) as an executive director. Of course, I did not know about the creation of GEC or that RM would become an executive director on the Board of GEC when I started this thread. This latest information tempted me to revisit my original question of whether 80M might merge with, or be taken over by, the American company. However, I refrained from posting anything on the subject until this comment from ChirpyCheep today (under a different thread): “More likely is a sale of 80M's assets for a share in Pelican, especially as RM is now on the Board."
The fact that RM would be on the Board of GEC makes me share this historical trend of his directorship:
1. RM was chairman and director at Greenland Gas & Oil (GGO) - the original licence holders of Jameson Land.
2. GGO becomes White Flame Energy (WFE).
3. RM was a director at WFE.
4. WFE then becomes part of 80M.
5. RM was a director at 80M when WFM was acquired, and is still a director.
6. RM becomes a director at Greenland Energy Company (GEC).
What’s next? The fact that the RM’s directorship has an interesting historical trend raises this speculative question: "Can we rule out the possibility of 80M becoming part of GEC, given the fact that the RM will be a director at the company?" It is certainly a possibility that I personally would not rule out. Should a merger or takeover be in the offing, I would expect Dundas to be divested because GEC is an energy company. Disko can be regarded as an energy asset as it contains nickel, cobalt and copper that are used in the electrification of road transport. Greenswitch is an energy asset, although not based in Greenland.
