LONDON (Alliance News) - Wincanton PLC confirmed on Tuesday the signing of a national warehousing network contract and the extension of a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom transportation contract with Kingfisher PLC-owned B&Q.
Wincanton will to manage B&Q's national distribution network under the warehousing network deal. The new five-year deal will see Wincanton take over the management of all six of B&Q's distribution centres.
"We are delighted to see our long-standing relationship with B&Q develop further. This new contract builds on Wincanton's strength and expertise in the retail sector and secures our continued collaboration," says Chief Executive Adrian Colman.
In addition to the new contract win, Wincanton has signed a contract extension with B&Q, for all of its Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom deliveries across mainland UK. This extension will see Wincanton manage the whole delivery process, which includes delivery directly to B&Q customers.
"Wincanton's specialist knowledge of the UK retail sector has equipped us to build a robust partnership with B&Q and we will work together to build a more efficient and scalable distribution network," says Adrian Colman.
The financial details on the contracts were not disclosed.
