Two Smurfit Kappa Group Directors Retire, Restrepo Hired As Director

(Alliance News) - Smurfit Kappa Group PLC on Friday said Christel Borie retired from her position as non-executive director on Thursday.

The FTSE 100 packaging company also announced the retirement of non-executive director & senior independent director Roberto Newell effective from Thursday.

Gonzalo Restrepo, board chair of petroleum company Compania Colombiana de Petroleos SA will take over Newell's role of senior independent director. He was previously the former chief executive officer of Latin American retail company Almacenes Exito SA.

Irial Finan, Smurfit Kappa board chair, commented: "I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank both Christel and Roberto for their contribution to Smurfit Kappa during their tenure. The leadership and expertise demonstrated by both was of significant value to the board and I wish them well in their future endeavours."

Shares in Smurfit Kappa were up 2.3% at 2666.00 pence on Friday in London.
