Tui Aviation Boss Kenton Jarvis Named New easyJet Finance Chief

Fri, 18th Sep 2020 08:34

(Alliance News) - easyJet PLC on Friday said it has appointed the current chief executive of Aviation at Tui AG, Kenton Jarvis, as its new finance boss.

Luton-headquartered budget airline easyJet said Jarvis will replace current Chief Financial Officer Andrew Findlay, who will be stepping down in May of 2021 as announced this past May. An update on Jarvis's start date will be provided in due course, easyJet said.

Findlay - together with Chair John Barton, Chief Executive Johan Lundgren and Non-Executive Director Andreas Bierwirth - had survived an attempt to have him removed from the easyJet board by disgruntled founder and largest shareholder Stelios Haji-Ioannou. Shareholders rejected Haji-Ioannou's resolutions at a general meeting he convened.

At present, Jarvis is CEO of Aviation and business improvement director of Markets at Tui. He has held various senior and divisional finance roles since joining Tui in 2003.

Before that, he was finance director of Airtours Holidays and held a number of commercial finance roles at Adidas AG.

easyJet said: "Kenton has extensive experience of the travel and aviation sector having held a variety of finance roles including serving as finance director of the Northern region for Tui AG, group director of finance and control & finance director for the mainstream sector overseeing GBP12.5 billion in revenue. He has served on the management board for Tui and proven his ability to drive savings and successful turnaround programmes. This expertise will be critical as easyJet enters a period of recovery from the most severe restrictions of the pandemic."

Shares in easyJet were down 5.3% at 563.00 pence in London on Friday morning. Tui shares were down 0.9% at 305.30p.
