(Alliance News) - Ryanair Holdings PLC on Friday said the UK pilots trade union has cancelled five strikes scheduled in the rest of the month.
The British Airline Pilots’ Association originally announced that pilots would strike this Saturday, then again on Monday and Wednesday before striking again on September 27 and September 29.
The budget airline operator said it had welcomed Balpa's decision to call off the strike and "has invited Balpa to resume talks in East Midlands or in Dublin, at Balpa's convenience, next week".
On Thursday, the union took aim at Ryanair for "reverting to type" for threatening its pilots with the withdrawal of benefits if they took part in a strike.
Balpa also said on Wednesday that pilots at International Consolidated Airlines Group Sa-owned British Airways called off strikes scheduled for September 27.
Shares in Ryanair were 2.5% higher at EUR10.17 each in London on Friday afternoon.
