TOP NEWS: Rolls-Royce names Croda chair and BHP non-exec as new chair

Wed, 09th Jun 2021 08:47

(Alliance News) - Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed current Croda International PLC Chair Anita Frew as a non-executive director and chair designate.

As well as chair of speciality chemicals firm Croda, Frew is currently a non-executive director at miner BHP Group PLC. Until recently, she was deputy chair and senior independent director at lender Lloyds Banking Group PLC.

The jet engine maker added that Frew will join the Rolls-Royce board with effect from July 1, and succeed Ian Davis as chair at the start of October. Davis is departing after nearly nine years as chair.

"The company conducted a comprehensive search and Anita emerged as the outstanding candidate," commented Senior Independent Director Kevin Smith.

"She brings a wealth of experience from two decades of board appointments both in the UK and internationally and her skills, and reputation with investors and government institutions will be invaluable to the group."

Frew will become the first woman to chair the aero-engine producer since its founding in 1904, the Financial Times reported.

Rolls-Royce on Wednesday also said it has appointed Mike Manley as a non-executive director.

Manley is currently head of Americas at Stellantis NV and a member of its executive team. He joined Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV in 2011 and held a number of senior executive positions, including chief executive from July 2018 to January 2021, prior to its merger with Groupe PSA.

Rolls-Royce shares were 0.5% higher at 112.00 pence each in London early Wednesday.
