Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley sign UK cladding pledge

Tue, 05th Apr 2022 16:12

(Sharecast News) - Housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Berkeley said on Tuesday that they had signed the UK government's pledge to make properties safe following the Grenfell Tower fire.

Earlier, Persimmon also said it had signed the pledge, and stuck to its £75m estimate for the cost of carrying out the work.

Taylor Wimpey said it expects additional commitments to result in a further provision of around £80m, taking the total provided for fire safety remediation works to around £245m.

"We will continue to work with building owners, management companies and leaseholders and remain committed to resolving these issues as soon as possible for our customers. We will maintain a constructive dialogue with Government aimed at achieving a satisfactory resolution to remaining fire safety issues," it said.

"We continue to believe this is an industry-wide issue involving many types of organisations and therefore needs an industry-wide solution."
