LONDON (Alliance News) - Stobart Group Ltd on Thursday confirmed plans to operate 12 new European routes with regional airline Flybe Group PLC from May 2017, flying from London Southend Airport, which Stobart runs.
Stobart said earlier this month it had decided to run the new routes under an existing deal with Flybe and had terminated talks to launch the services with CityJet.
On Thursday, Stobart said the new routes with Flybe, which will include Budapest in Hungary, plus Milan and Venice in Italy, will start in May 2017.
The deal increases the number of routes operating from London Southend to 28.
"The confirmation of new routes from London Southend Airport today further builds on the strategic growth platform we have created in Stobart Group's Aviation Division. This is part of the next stage of our strategy to build new passenger routes at London Southend Airport, capitalising on the growing demand in the South East," said Andrew Tinkler, Stobart's chief executive.
