SOCO International Appoints Former Standard Chartered Banker To Board

Tue, 22nd May 2018 10:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - SOCO International PLC, an oil and gas exploration and production company, said on Tuesday that it will appoint John Martin as independent non-executive director following its annual general meeting in June.

SOCO International also said a current non-executive director, Olivier Barbaroux, will be stepping down at the same time.

Martin is the former senior managing director of the oil and gas team at Standard Chartered Bank PLC and spent 26 years at Dutch bank ABN-AMRO. He was also senior vice president of the World Petroleum Council and non-executive director of Rockhopper Exploration PLC.

Martin is the former chairman of Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd and was independent non-executive director of both Bowleven PLC and Total E&P UK Ltd.

"Olivier has been a director of SOCO during its formative years and I thank him for his long and distinguished service," said Non-Executive Chairman Rui de Sousa.

"I am delighted to welcome John Martin to the board. John brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will be valuable in SOCO's next phase of growth," de Sousa added.

Shares in SOCO International were up 0.5% to 119.60 pence each on Tuesday morning.
