SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Motor insurance woes hit Sabre again

Mon, 18th Jul 2022 10:50

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Monday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

EnQuest PLC, up 5.4% at 24.25 pence, 12-month range 16.90p-37.35p. The stock tracks Brent prices higher. The North Sea crude benchmark rises to USD103.37 a barrel on Monday morning UK time, from USD101.57 late Friday. EnQuest is a North Sea and Malaysia-focused oil and gas company.

----------

Hyve Group PLC, up 5.1% at 63.70 pence, 12-month range 43.86p-117.20p. Shares in the events organiser track Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC's stock higher. Business media and events firm Euromoney has backed a private equity takeover. In addition, Euromoney says revenue in the nine months to June rises 30% to GBP304.3 million, helped by events revenue alone more than doubling.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Sabre Insurance Group PLC, down 5.1% at 102.54p, 12-month range 101.00p-276.00p. The insurer, already reeling from a profit warnings of its own, falls further as Direct Line Insurance Group PLC cautions on claims inflation. Sabre looks set to suffer its fourth successive share price decline. It has given back nearly 50% since last week Tuesday. The stock fell 40% alone on Thursday as it said pretax profit slumped 81% to GBP4.3 million from GBP22.2 million a year ago. The net loss ratio widened to 72% from 45%, and the combined operating ratio worsened to 99% from 74%. Any combined ratio below 100% indicates underwriting profit, so the lower the better.
