SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Pendragon profit swing; travel sector hurt

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Pendragon PLC, up 1.8% at 18.83 pence, 12-month range 7.00p-21.50p. The motor retailer says revenue in the six months to June 30 jumps 49% to GBP1.82 billion from GBP1.2 billion a year earlier. Its swings to a pretax profit of GBP28.4 million from a GBP41.4 million loss a year earlier. Chief Executive Bill Berman notes its online growth, which helped ensure 40,000 vehicles were delivered to customers during lockdown in the UK.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

Hostelworld Group PLC, down 7.1 at 78.98p, 12-month range 38.80p-119.80p. The hostel booking platform tracks the travel sector lower on Wednesday. Concerns over economic growth in China has hit the travel industry. Retail sales growth in the world's second largest economy misses expectations and grows just 2.5% yearly in August, slowing from 8.5% in July. Holiday firm On the Beach Group PLC falls 3.7%, FTSE 250-listed budget carrier easyJet PLC is 3.8% lower and British Airways parent International Consolidated Airlines Group SA loses 2.0%.
