(Alliance News) - Peel Hunt LLP and Banco Santander SA have agreed a joint venture to target large initial public offerings in the UK, the Financial Times reported on Monday.
As part of the deal, the Spanish bank has agreed to underwrite transactions for the small-cap broker in an unusual European tie-up, the newspaper said.
Under the agreement, Peel Hunt will be able to offer access to underwriting from Santander to customers looking to raise money, while Santander can tap into Peel Hunt's client base and contacts to secure positions on IPOs in the UK, the FT added.
The partnership will be on a deal-by-deal basis, with both sides able to choose when to use the arrangement, the FT said. However those involved said it would be larger fundraising, with greater volumes of capital, that would be most appropriate.
