Petrofac Secures Work On Scotland's Largest Wind Farm Development

Thu, 16th Jan 2020 09:20

(Alliance News) - Energy services firm Petrofac Ltd has won a contract on a Scottish wind farm operated by SSE PLC, the company said on Thursday.

Petrofac will design, supply, and install onshore and offshore substations for the Seagreen project, which will be 27 kilometres off the coast of Angus. Once constructed, it will be the largest wind farm in Scotland.

Early work has already begun, Jersey-based Petrofac said, and a final investment decision will be made in the coming months.

Elie Lahoud, the managing director of Engineering & Construction at Petrofac, said: "We have been involved in a number of similar projects in the North Sea and are delighted to have been appointed to be part of the Seagreen project, which will be Scotland's largest offshore wind farm.

"This will enable us to continue to grow our capability and experience in offshore wind and supports our diversification into renewable energy. Along with the wider team involved, I look forward to the safe and quality delivery of both the onshore and offshore substations."

Petrofac shares were 0.7% higher in London on Thursday at a price of 384.85 pence each.

This contract win, for which financials were not disclosed, follows two wins in Oman worth USD130 million announced at the end of December.
