(Sharecast News) - Retirement housebuilder McCarthy & Stone said on Tuesday that Rowan Baker will step down as chief financial officer at the end of July to take up the same role at construction company Laing O'Rourke.

Baker, who has been with the company for eight years - CFO for three - will leave at the end of July. She will be succeeded by Martin Abell, who was formerly the CFO at pharmaceutical and services company Clinigen and finance director for the Europe and Rest of World division at recruiter Hays.

Abell will join the business as CFO Designate on 26 May, becoming CFO on 1 August following Baker's departure.

Chief executive officer John Tonkiss said Abell's "commercial and public company experience will be of huge benefit".
