Conroy Gold & Natural Resources PLC- gold explorer in Ireland and Finland - Hires Howard Bird as non-executive director, effective immediately. Bird is 30-year mine exploration veteran. As senior vice president for Toronto-listed Brigus Gold Corp, he was involved in a number of new gold discoveries in Canada. Bird is a non-executive director of Karelian Diamond Resources PLC.

Current stock price: 18.60 pence

Year-to-date change: more than tripled; 5.75p on December 30.
