(Alliance News) - Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC on Monday said it has signed an exclusive licensing and distribution agreement with Italian pharma firm Chiesi Farmaceutici SpA.
The agreement provides Hikma with exclusive rights to commercialise 11 of Chiesi's products in Egypt, including currently marketed and pipeline products.
Hikma noted this agreement builds on the existing partnership between the pair in Morocco.
Hikma Executive Vice Chair & President of Middle East & North Africa Mazen Darwazah said: "We are very pleased to be partnering with Chiesi to commercialise a range of specialty products, primarily in respiratory and neonatal therapeutic areas, in Egypt.
"This supports our strategy of working with global partners to strengthen our portfolio in growing therapeutic categories. In particular, this agreement enables us to meet the needs of a growing number of patients suffering from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Egypt and improve their access to high-quality medicines."
Shares in Hikma Pharmaceuticals were 1.1% higher in London on Monday morning at 1,928.00 pence each.
