The High Court has ruled that a planned strike by British Airways cabin staff over Christmas would be illegal. The court accepted BA's claim that Unite, the union representing the airline's staff, has not balloted its members correctly.BA said staff who have left the company or are leaving were balloted along with existing employees, which it said is a legal breach."There was never any need for a strike and we hope that Unite will take this opportunity to reflect before deciding its next steps," BA said in a statement after the court ruling."In recent days, we believe Unite has formed a better understanding of our position and of the ways in which we could move forward."
