Mon, 06th Feb 2017 08:39

LONDON (Alliance News) - Goldplat PLC on Monday said it has successfully commissioned a new processing plant at the Kilimapesa gold project in Kenya.

Goldplat said the plant has a designed capacity of 200 tonnes per day and will include a crusher circuit, thickener, leach tanks, an elution plant and a tailings deposition facility.

The UK firm said the first stage of the commissioning has been completed, with two further stages to go.

"I am very pleased with the board's decision to proceed with an expansion plan at our Kilimapesa gold mine, which represents an investment of the order of USD2 million," said Goldplat Chief Executive Gerald Kisbey-Green.

"Although it is modest in terms of production, we believe it will result in the commencement of

sustainable profitability at Kilimapesa," he added.

Shares in Goldplat were up 3.7% at 5.57 pence on Monday.
