Goldplat Pleased With Latest Performance As Chief Executive Departs

Fri, 26th Apr 2019 11:49

LONDON (Alliance News) - Goldplat PLC Chief Executive Gerard Kisbey-Green has resigned, the company said Friday, as it reported a small dip in quarterly output.

Kisbey-Green has stepped down with immediate effect, with current Chief Financial Officer Werner Klingenberg stepping up as interim CEO.

Chair Matthew Robinson commented: "I would like to thank Gerard for his hard work and enthusiasm over the last four years as CEO and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours."

"The outcome of the review of the group's senior management requirements will reflect the group's strategic requirements going forward."

On the operations front, Goldplat produced 6,835 ounces of gold in its third quarter ended March, from 6,966 ounces a year prior.

On a nine-month basis, gold production has slipped to 22,621 ounces from 35,431 ounces after a weak first quarter.

However, Goldplat has sold more gold in the third quarter, reaching 6,018 ounces from 5,571 ounces year-on-year. Nine-month sales are down significantly however at 19,200 ounces from 34,181 ounces.

Klingenberg said: "We were very pleased with continued profitable production in South Africa during the quarter and the progress made in building the greater West African market."

"Management's continued priority will be to maintain the established momentum of the recovery operation and improve the reliability of sourcing material."

"While the ongoing discussions to find Kilimapesa an external funding partner, referred to in the last quarter, were terminated, management is already engaged in talks with other parties and we hope to update the market as they progress," he added.

Goldplat shares were 7.6% higher on Friday morning at 3.23 pence each.
