FTSE 250 risers: Fidelity China tracks PRC stock gains, Brewin pops higher

Fri, 10th Jul 2015 14:29

(ShareCast News) - London's second-line equity index was up more than 1% not long before the end of the Friday session, led higher by a diverse array of companies.Following China's record two-day stock market gain, Fidelity China Special Situations tracked these gains and marched rapidly back up towards its own recent all-time highs.Brewin Dolphin leapt higher after a 'buy' recommendation from a fellow broker, Panmure Gordon, which downgraded its estimates by 7% but upgraded its price target to 350p from 300p on the basis that the current share price is anticipating no organic growth. "We anticipate this will be the new focus for the company as it moves the strategy from efficiency to focusing on revenue growth," said analyst Jeremy Grime.Analyst opinion weighed on Lonmin, however, with a UBS downgrade to 'sell' sending the platinum miner's shares sliding. The Swiss bank cited likely downside "even if platinum group metals (PGM) prices recover" and slashed its 12-month price target to 75p from the prior 130p.Egyptian gold miner Centamin, meanwhile, lost ground despite an upgrade from Canaccord, which said it believed production guidance would be exceeded. A stronger influence on investor opinion seemed to be the fact that the price gold remained broadly flat as safe haven demand failed to fire up.Likewise, shares in Esure fell in spite of Barclays reiterating its 'overweight' rating.FTSE 250 - RisersFidelity China Special Situations (FCSS) 141.00p +8.88%Brewin Dolphin Holdings (BRW) 304.80p +5.03%Rank Group (RNK) 235.90p +4.84%Dignity (DTY) 2,282.00p +4.68%Auto Trader Group (AUTO) 316.90p +4.52%Shawbrook Group (SHAW) 350.50p +4.22%Zoopla Property Group (WI) (ZPLA) 238.30p +3.61%Telecom Plus (TEP) 1,007.00p +3.33%Jimmy Choo (CHOO) 165.10p +3.19%Premier Oil (PMO) 143.90p +3.15%FTSE 250 - FallersLonmin (LMI) 84.65p -8.88%esure Group (ESUR) 259.10p -2.19%Renishaw (RSW) 2,131.00p -2.02%Mitchells & Butlers (MAB) 432.50p -1.84%Centamin (DI) (CEY) 59.90p -1.80%Evraz (EVR) 112.20p -1.32%Cairn Energy (CNE) 166.90p -1.30%Nostrum Oil & Gas (NOG) 593.50p -1.25%Drax Group (DRX) 270.10p -1.17%Grafton Group Units (GFTU) 713.00p -0.97%
