FTSE 250 movers: Aveva leads downside after profit warning

Aveva shares were tumbling on Friday after the group issued a profit warning. Currency movements and the timing of contract renewals had already been flagged, but the company also said that a sales force reorganisation and a softening of demand in some markets would also have an impact on numbers.Aveva, which designs engineering software for the plant, power and marine industries, said first-half revenues would fall to around £84m-90m, from £108.5m the previous year.Firstgroup was also in the red after its chairman, John McFarlane, announced that he plans to step down from the role in July next year as part of his move to Barclays. The group said it had begun the process of finding a "strong replacement".Bwin.party extended Thursday's gains, while Home Retail continued to fall.
