Carnival works towards possible restart for select US sailings in July

Wed, 12th May 2021 08:56

(Sharecast News) - Cruise ship operator Carnival said on Wednesday that it was working toward plans for a possible restart of US sailings on select ships in July.
Carnival said it hopes to begin operating sailings on three ships from Florida and Texas, and stated that if it can "find a solution" to allow cruise ships to visit Alaska, Carnival Miracle will begin departures from Seattle.

However, Carnival noted that given that there was "still some uncertainty" in its ability to operate the cruises, it said guests booked on those sailings may cancel without penalty by 31 May.

The FTSE 250-listed group added that it was cancelling sailings on all other ships through 31 July, with guests whose cruises were cancelled also being eligible for a future cruise credit and onboard credit or a full refund.

"We continue to have constructive discussions with the CDC but still have many questions that remain unanswered. We are working diligently to resume sailing in the US and meet the CDC guidelines," said Carnival president Christine Duffy.

"We sincerely appreciate the continued patience and understanding of our guests and travel advisor partners and will share additional information as quickly as we can."

As of 0855 BST, Carnival shares were up 0.49% at 1,559.48.
