BP warns of planned flaring at L.A. refinery -filing

HOUSTON, Feb 24 (Reuters) - BP Plc's 240,000 barrelper day (bpd) Los Angeles-area refinery in Carson, California,warned on Sunday of planned flaring from Monday through March 8,according to a notice the refinery filed with Californiapollution regulators.

The refinery has been returning a 102,500 bpdgasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit and analkylation unit to production after completing a six-weekoverhaul.

A refinery utilizes its safety flare system when it cannotprocess hydrocarbons normally during planned maintenance or anunplanned malfunction. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Bernard Orr)
