ASOS Strengthens Board With Four New Experienced Non-Executives

Wed, 02nd Oct 2019 14:35

(Alliance News) - ASOS PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed four new non-executives, including current board members of FTSE 100 firms.

The online clothing retailer also said that two existing directors will leave the company.

Karen Geary, who joined with effect on Tuesday, will chair the company's Remuneration Committee from December. Geary was the former chief people officer at FTSE 100-listed technology firm Sage Group PLC.

Also joining the retailer is Luke Jensen, a board member of online grocer Ocado Group PLC. Jensen, whose board appointment is effective on November 1, was also the development director at J Sainsbury PLC, "where he was responsible for online and all customer facing digital activities", ASOS said.

Former Sky Ltd commercial chief Mai Fyfield will, like Jensen, join the ASOS board on November 1. Fyfield also serves on the board of US-listed tv streaming platform Roku Inc and Nationwide Building Society.

Eugenia Ulasewicz, the former president of Burberry Group PLC's Americas division, will join the ASOS board in April 2020. She also holds a non-executive role at FTSE 100-constituent Bunzl PLC.

Leaving the company, however, are Non-Executive Directors Hilary Riva and Rita Clifton, whose six-year tenures will end in April 2020.

ASOS Chair Adam Crozier said: "Their world-class experience, skills, and expertise will be essential in guiding the business through the next stage of global growth, fuelled by the substantial investments it has made over the past few years.

"I'd also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Riva and Clifton for the important role they have played in the development of ASOS and the board over their tenure."

Shares in ASOS were 2.6% higher at 2,549.00 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
