Angus Energy "Pleased" With Seven-Day Balcombe Field Well Test

Tue, 02nd Oct 2018 09:46

LONDON (Alliance News) - Oil & gas company Angus Energy PLC said on Tuesday it has completed the seven-day flow test programme for the horizontal well, Balcombe-2z.

The test involved the use of Nitrogen and coiled tubing to clean and prime the well which when removed allowed a natural flow at 853 barrels of oil equivalent per day not including 23% water. A second flow of the well was at 1,587 barrels, not including 6.6% water.

Angus said the water produced was not expected, and the testing team believes a small high-pressure water zone was intersected in the horizontal section of the well which will require isolation in the future.

Currently the team believes that water production is not from the main Kimmeridge Reservoir itself but through fractured communication. Angus believes that the water producing zone can be isolated and establish commercial production under normal conditions.

"We are obviously pleased with the results of the Balcombe-2z flow test and encouraged as we take our next steps towards producing from the Kimmeridge layers in the near future at the Brockham Field. This programme was successful because our team at Angus and our service providers maintained the highest standards, the most important of all being safe operations," said Managing Director Paul Vonk.

Shares in Angus Energy were up 6.1% at 8.62 pence on Tuesday.
