US mobile phone network Verizon has reported second quarter earnings per share (EPS) of $0.57 compared to the $0.55 expected by the consensus and the $0.42 loss in the second quarter of 2010. The company earned $1.61 billion over the last second quarter compared to the $1.19 billion loss from a year earlier.Revenue totaled $27.54 billion, compared to $26.77 billion in the company's fiscal second quarter of 2010 and slightly above the $27.47 billion expected by the market.The company, which is 45% owned by UK mobile phone colossus Vodafone, selected current president and chief operating officer Lowell McAdam to replace Ivan Seidenberg as the new chief executive officer.
