May 16 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks to watch on Thursday:

DOW, S&P FUTURES TURN LOWER AFTER U.S. DATA

Dow and S&P 500 index futures turned lower after U.S. weeklyjobless claims unexpectedly rose in the latest week and housingstarts fell sharply. Futures for the S&P 500 were down1.9 points and the Dow Jones down 16 points, whilefutures for the Nasdaq were up 9 points.

** CISCO SYSTEMS INC, Wednesday close $21.21, up 9pct premarket

** JUNIPER NETWORKS INC, Wednesday close $17.07, up3.4 pct premarket

** CIENA CORP, Wednesday close $15.06, up 3.5 pctpremarket

Network equipment maker Cisco posted a higher-than-expectedquarterly profit on Wednesday and said current-quarter revenuecould increase, giving some relief to investors who had worriedit was being hurt by weak technology spending.

** APPLE INC, Wednesday close $428.85, down 0.9 pctpremarket

One-time hedge fund darling Apple was dropped by morewell-known fund managers in the first quarter, including JohnGriffin and Chase Coleman.

** WAL-MART STORES INC, Wednesday close $79.86, down2.3 pct premarket

Wal-Mart's quarterly profit just missed Wall Streetexpectations, with sales down 1.4 percent at its Walmart U.S.stores open at least a year.

** KOHL'S CORP, Wednesday close $49.68, up 7 pctpremarket

The department store chain reported a quarterly profit wellahead of analysts' expectations after cost cuts boosted margins.

** TESLA MOTORS INC, Wednesday close $84.84, up 11pct premarket

The electric carmaker, which posted its first-ever quarterlyprofit last week, said on Wednesday that it aims to raise $830million through a stock and debt offering that will be used torepay its U.S. Department of Energy loans with interest.

** BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC , Wednesday close$112.77

** CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON CO, Wednesday close $57.76,up 3.8 pct premarket

** WELLS FARGO & CO, Wednesday close $39.30

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway on Wednesday revealed anew investment in Chicago Bridge and said it has added to itslargest equity holding, Wells Fargo.

** SUNPOWER CORP, Wednesday close $20.65, up 6 pctpremarket

The company, which makes solar panels and builds powerplants with them, on Wednesday said revenue and profits for therest of the year would be above most analysts' estimates.

The news was the latest bright spot in the solarmanufacturing industry, which has struggled mightily with adramatic slide in prices over the last few years.

Several brokerages including RBC Capital Markets, Robert W.Baird & Co and Northland Capital Markets raised their pricetarget on the company's stock.

** ADVANCED MICRO DEVICES INC, Wednesday close$4.38, down 5.7 pct premarket

Goldman Sachs cut its rating on the chipmaker's stock to"sell" from "neutral", according to Theflyonthewall.com.

** 3D SYSTEMS CORP, Wednesday close $47.67, down 3pct premarket

** STRATASYS LTD, Wednesday close $90.90, down 2pct premarket

Brokerage William Blair & Co cut its rating on the 3Dprinter makers to "underperform" from "marketperform".

"... Media hype has led investors to overlook some keyfundamentals of these companies, and ultimately, has given riseto unreasonable growth expectations and inflated valuations,"analyst Brian Drab wrote in a client note.

** BOEING CO, Wednesday close $97.02

General Electric Co and Boeing have alerted airlinesabout a potential problem with engines on Boeing's long-range777 jumbo jet that caused the engines to shut in mid-flighttwice this year.

** MONSANTO CO, Wednesday close $109.22

The world's largest seed company is developing two newplatforms that diverge from its core business and are seen aspotential key long-term growth drivers, according to topMonsanto executives.

** OPTIMER PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Wednesday close$16.18

** CUBIST PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Wednesday close$48.54

Before Optimer Pharmaceuticals even put itself up for saleearlier this year, Cubist Pharmaceuticals offered to buy theantibiotic maker for $20 per share, or nearly $1 billion, twopeople familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.

** CYCLACEL PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Wednesday close$3.47, down 6.3 pct after market

The company said it would sell shares in a public offering.The size and other terms of the offering were not disclosed.

** SAPIENT CORP, Wednesday close $11.19, up 6.3 pctafter market

The business and technology consultancy company on Wednesdayreported first-quarter results above analysts' average estimateson higher demand for its services.

** SKECHERS USA INC, Wednesday close $21.41, up 3pct after market

The shoemaker reported higher-than-expected quarterlyrevenue, boosted by sales in its performance business.First-quarter sales rose 28 percent to $451.6 million.

** JA SOLAR HOLDINGS CO LTD, Wednesday close $5.72

The Chinese solar equipment maker said it repaid $119million, comprising the principal amount and interest, of its4.5 percent convertible notes due May 15.

** LDK SOLAR CO LTD, Wednesday close $1.41

The Chinese solar panel maker signed a 500-megawatt wafersupply contract with Realforce Power Co Ltd. LDK said shipmentsto the China-based company will start this month.

** BIOGEN IDEC, Wednesday close $227.13

An experimental leukemia treatment that Roche Holding AG hopes will improve upon its best-selling cancer drugRituxan delayed disease progression twice as long aschemotherapy, according to preliminary trial data released onWednesday. Roche shares Rituxan revenue with Biogen Idec.

** BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB, Wednesday close $44.34

Melanoma patients treated with two Bristol-Myers Squibbdrugs fared much better than those who received either of themedications individually, a new advance for treatments thatharness the body's immune system to fight cancer.

** ASTRAZENECA , Wednesday close $51.75

AstraZeneca has enrolled the first patient into afinal-stage clinical trial of a new drug for a rare type ofleukaemia as the group's new CEO delivers on a promise toaccelerate its oncology programs.

** GILEAD SCIENCES INC, Wednesday close $56.36, up2 pct premarket

An experimental drug from Gilead Sciences shrank tumors inhalf of leukemia patients whose cancer had returned, accordingto an early-stage trial that represents a new foray intooncology by the world's biggest seller of HIV medications.

** FRESENIUS MEDICAL CARE , Wednesday close$33.53

The world's largest dialysis provider, confirmed that itlooks set to reach only the lower half of its previous outlookrange for 2013 net income.

** JOHNSON & JOHNSON, Wednesday close $87.64

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Johnson &Johnson's drug Simponi for patients with moderate to severeulcerative colitis, an inflammatory disease affecting the colon.

** VODAFONE Group Plc, Wednesday close $29.90, up1.4 pct premarket

Vodafone will be able to offer pay-TV overhigh-speed broadband to its German customers under a new dealwith Deutsche Telekom, broadening its appeal in theBritish firm's most important European market.

** DISH NETWORK CORP, Wednesday close $39.20

** SPRINT NEXTEL CORP, Wednesday close $7.25

Dish has lined up four banks to finance its $25.5 billionbid for Sprint Nextel, escalating the bidding war againstJapanese telecom company SoftBank Corp, according totwo people familiar with the matter.

** OVERSTOCK INC, Wednesday close $25.29

** ALCATEL-LUCENT SA , Wednesday close$1.53

The online shopping sites Newegg and Overstock won a patentbattle on Wednesday with telecom equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent,which had accused the companies of infringing its patentedtechnology.

** SPECTRUM PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Wednesday close$7.97, up 6.65 pct premarket

The company's Norwegian partner Topotarget A/S said final data from a pivotal study of the companies' drugbelinostat showed it met the main goal of reducing the size oftumors in patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma, a form ofblood cancer.

Topotarget said the drug was well-tolerated by the trialpatients. The data was part of an abstract released by theAmerican Society for Clinical Oncology, ahead of its meeting onMay 31.

** DOW CHEMICAL CO, Wednesday close $35.34

A federal judge in Kansas City, Kansas, ordered Dow Chemical on Wednesday to pay $1.2 billion in a price-fixing caseinvolving chemicals used to make foam products in cars,furniture and packaging, according to court documents.

** F5 NETWORKS INC, Wednesday close $79.91, up 2.6pct premarket

Maverick Capital Ltd on Wednesday raised its stake in thenetwork gear maker by 137.4 percent to $2 million.

** ONCOTHYREON INC, Wednesday close $2.61, up 4.6pct premarket

The biopharmaceutical company said detailed data from itsfinal-stage trial showed its experimental lung cancer vaccineL-BLP25, formerly called Stimuvax, improved survival in asubgroup of patients treated with the drug, while receiving acombination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The company also said two mid-stage trials of itsexperimental compound PX-866 being tested in patients withcancers of the prostate and brain, showed the drug waswell-tolerated.

** EAGLE BULK SHIPPING INC, $3.95, up 11 pctpremarket

The drybulk shipper reported a profit of 8 cents per sharefor the first quarter, reversing a year-ago loss, helped by a$32.8 million settlement agreement with Korea Line Corp, which helped offset lower time charter rates andvoyage revenues.
