Integumen Signs Service Agreements, Completes Psoriasis Skin Model

Mon, 07th Oct 2019 11:37

(Alliance News) - Integumen PLC said Monday it has signed multi-year agreements with two unnamed cosmetic companies for the provision of recurring Labskin AI services.

Integumen - which provides products and services for skin-related diseases and treatments - also announced the completion of an artificially intelligent, virtual psoriasis skin model.

Under the agreement with the two cosmetic companies, research & development teams in the US, Asia and Europe will work with the Labskin AI virtual laboratory on testing existing products and new product development, through the use of Integumen's healthy and diseased skin models.

Meanwhile, concerning the new psoriasis skin model, Integumen gathered samples of the psoriasis lesion and other sites from 671 anonymised patients to produce an AI generalised solution for diseased skin.

Following genomic sequencing of the samples, the results identified 216 species of microbiota, of which 33 were identified as "critical" to the success of the Labskin AI model for analysing psoriasis.

The skin model can also be used to develop other skin models for other diseases, including atopic dermatitis, rosacea and acne.

"Integumen is at the forefront of AI development for the skin care industry. AI diseased skin models are the new frontier and are a disruptive platform for new drug discovery. This has the ability to transform the research and development of diseased skin treatments, making them a lot less expensive and bring products to the market faster. This is why large skin care companies are signing up to use LabskinAI," said Chief Executive Officer Gerard Brandon.

Shares in Integumen were up 3.70% at 1.75 pence in London on Monday.
