HOUSTON, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Gasoline climbed 9 cents agallon in the Los Angeles spot market on Friday after traderssaid Tesoro Corp.'s 166,000 barrel per day (bpd)Martinez, California, refinery shut the gasoline-producingfluidic catalytic cracking unit after a malfunction.
A Tesoro spokeswoman declined to discuss the status of theMartinez FCC.
September-delivery CARBOB gasoline, which meets California'sstrict environmental standards, finished at 23 cents a gallonover October NYMEX RBOB gasoline in L.A.
San Francisco Bay September CARBOB was 5 cents stronger thanthe L.A. price.
The Tesoro outage comes after Valero Energy Corp.,Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Phillips 66 reportedmalfunctions at California refineries earlier in the week. .
In the Portland, Oregon, market, gasoline rose 2 cents agallon to 8 cents a gallon over October NYMEX RBOB.
September-delivery CARB diesel, which is named for theCalifornia Air Resources Board that determines its formula, inL.A. was up 0.75 cent at 1.5 cents a gallon over October NYMEXRBOB.
September CARB diesel rose 2.5 cents to 5.5 cents a gallonover October NYMEX RBOB in the Bay market.
