HOUSTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc's 327,000 barrel per day (bpd) joint-venture refinery inDeer Park, Texas refinery reported flaring on Saturday thatreleased 1,500 pounds of hydrogen sulfide, according to a noticefiled with U.S. pollution regulators.
Refineries use their safety flare system when they cannotprocess hydrocarbons normally due to malfunction or plannedmaintenance.
The Deer Park refinery is 50-50 joint venture between Shelland Pemex, Mexico's national oil company. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Nick Zieminski)
