THE HAGUE, May 21 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shellsaid that only its gas subsidiary NAM paid corporate tax in theNetherlands, where it is headquartered, in 2018.
The revelation was prompted by Dutch parliamentary demandsthat the company attend a hearing on tax avoidance bymultinational companies.
"Recently there has been much speculation as to whetherShell does or doesn't pay corporate tax in the Netherlands," thecompany said on Tuesday.
"By giving openness before the round table, hopefully roomwill be created for the conversation to be about the substance,"Shell said.
Shell paid $10 billion in corporate tax globally in 2018, itsaid.(Reporting by Toby Sterling, editing by Louise Heavens)
