Providence Resources names former Verus Petroleum boss as interim CEO

Mon, 04th Jul 2022 08:40

(Alliance News) - Providence Resources PLC on Monday named Alan Curran as its interim chief executive, effective immediately.

Since former CEO Alan Linn left the Dublin, Ireland-based energy company in October 2021, Chair James Menton has acted as executive chair of the company as it searched for a new CEO. Following Curran's appointment, Menton will revert back to his role as non-executive chair.

Over the past two years, Curran has founded and led Ortus Petroleum Ltd, an investment vehicle for oil & gas exploration in north-west Europe.

Prior to that, Curran was CEO of Verus Petroleum. Between 2014 to 2019, he oversaw USD500 million of acquisitions as well as the company's own acquisition in 2019 by NEO Energy Group Ltd.

Menton said: "I am pleased that Alan has agreed to join Providence Resources as interim CEO. As a board, our primary objective is to progress our appraisal programme leading to a phased commercial development of the Barryroe oil & gas field. We are confident that the field can be successful and I have no doubt that, with his extensive experience in the oil & gas industry, Alan's knowledge and expertise will assist the board in optimising the Barryroe Field."

Shares in Providence Resources were untraded at 3.10 pence each in London on Monday morning.
