Modern Water Licences Technology For Use At Chinese Treatment Plant

Thu, 27th Sep 2018 15:56

LONDON (Alliance News) - Modern Water PLC on Thursday said it has licenced its osmosis technology to Hangzhou Shangtuo Environmental Technology Co Ltd for use at a treatment plant in China.

The water treatment company licenced the technology for use in a demonstration plant and will treat leachate from a landfill site. Landfill leachate is the liquid that drains from a landfill site, and must be treated to prevent groundwater contamination.

Modern Water and Hangzhou currently have a joint venture in China, with Hangzhou holding a 5% Modern Water stake.

"Modern Water is delighted with our close partnership with [Hangzhou], which has a successful water treatment business in China. It allows us to deploy our core technologies in new and challenging applications in the Chinese market," said Modern Water Chief Executive Simon Humphrey.

Shares in Modern Water were up 0.8% at 9.68 pence on Thursday.
