Motive Television Increases Revenues As It Gears Up For New Product Launches

Thu, 26th Sep 2013 09:41

LONDON (Alliance News) - Motive Television PLC, an on-demand television software company, Thursday increased revenues and narrowed losses as it moves towards the launch of new services.

For the half-year ended June 30 the company posted revenues of GBP573,082, up from GBP493,573 the previous-year half. The company saw a pretax loss of GBP1.2 million, narrowed from GBP1.6 million.

Plans for a version of Motive's Tablet TV in the UK, compatible with Freeview, are under development with the Digital Television Group. Motive said it was in ongoing discussions with potential licensees and partners for the product and anticipates a launch in the first half of 2014.

Motive said that it has been working with broadcast group CME to test and complete the development of its Television Anytime Anywhere platform in the Czech Republic. It expects to launch the service commercially with CME in the second quarter of 2014.

A prototype of its Tablet TV Technology has been prepared for the US market, and it anticipates commencing a market test of the product in San Francisco in January 2014.

The company is also in discussion with telecoms companies about its 4G LTE Mobile Operator service Mocast, which allows operators to provide scheduled downloading of video content to their subscribers. It said it will continue discussions that it believes will lead to field trials.

The company said that, following a preliminary judgement in its litigation with major-shareholder CCAN, it had lodged an appeal. Motive launched legal action in Barcelona to enforce its option to acquire CCAN's 32.3% interest in Motive. However, the action was rejected. Motive said that its legal advisers maintain that its case is strong and that the judgement should be overturned on an appeal.

Shares in Motive Television were trading up 3.1% at 0.0232 pence Thursday morning.
