Motive Television (MTV) halved its 2012 losses on the back of a strong performance of its digital business. The digital television technology, software and solutions provider posted a group loss of £1.2m for the year ended December 31st 2012, down from the previous year's £2.4m.The company reduced its digital business loss to £1.2m from £1.5, supported by cost cuts to £1.8 from £2.4 in 2011. Revenues in the division, however, fell to £0.56m from £0.87m.MTV's content business swung to a profit of £7,963 from a loss of £4,526 despite reduced revenues of £0.53m from £1.1m. During the period, the company invented its tablet TV, a joint venture with Granite in the US.Turkish satellite broadcaster Digiturk also began to provide set-top boxes that include MTV's Anytime Anywhere technology to consumers on a commercial basis. MTV unveiled its Mocast technology, which enables mobile networks to reduce peak demand congestion and deliver video content, at the Mobile World Congress.A five-year contract was signed with CME starting in Czech Republic with subsequent roll-out in their other territories."Our rapidly-growing Digital business has established itself as an innovator in the industry and following the progress with CME, the commercial launch of Digiturk services, and widespread industry interest in Tablet TV and Mocast, Motive's technology is gaining traction," said Executive Chairman, Michael Pilsworth.
