John Menzies Wins New Contracts For Services In Four UK Airports

Tue, 01st Oct 2019 10:04

(Alliance News) - Aviation services firm John Menzies PLC said Tuesday it has won new contracts and renewed others with several airlines including Wizz Air Holdings PLC and Deutsche Lufthansa AG.

The first contract is for Glasgow Airport, where Menzies has agreed to a three-year contract with German airline Lufthansa, starting in December. Menzies will provide passenger ramp and de-icing services for the airline.

Also in Glasgow, Menzies has agreed to a five-year contract starting March 2020 with US-based United Airlines, in which the company will provide passenger and ramp services for the airline's B752 operation.

United Airlines is part of United Continental Holdings Inc.

In Edinburgh Airport, Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss Air has picked Menzies to provide passenger, ramp and de-icing services for three years starting from November.

Lufthansa and United Airlines have also extended their contracts with Menzies for Edinburgh, for a period of three and five years respectively.

For the London Gatwick airport, Central and Eastern Europe-focused airline Wizz Air has renewed its service contract with Menzies for another three years. Menzies will service four daily flight in the summer and two in the winter.

Also in Gatwick, Moroccan national carrier Royal Air Maroc has also extended its ground handling arrangement for another three years with Menzies, for the provision of aviation services.

Finally for London Heathrow, Tap Air Portugal - the flag carrier for Portugal - renewed its ground handling contract with Menzies for three years, which has already started on September 1.

In addition, Middle Eastern Airlines has selected Menzies as its cargo handling partner for two years, starting from September.

"These multiple contract wins and renewals are testament to the high quality service delivered by Menzies professionals across major UK airports. Menzies is committed to providing a premium service to our customers, which is why we are seeing contracts renewed time and time again. We look forward to strengthening our existing partnerships, and to forging equally strong relationships with new airline customers in the UK over the coming years," said Chief Executive Giles Wilson.

Shares in John Menzies were up 0.7% at 406.75 pence on Tuesday in London.
