Lloyds director buys up shares

Wed, 23rd Nov 2011 16:42

Glen Moreno, a non-executive director at banking giant Lloyds, has dipped into his savings to buy £44,180-worth of shares. The 68-year-old, who joined the board in March 2010, purchased 200,000 shares at 22.09p each. Moreno is also the chairman of Pearson, the media group, and director of Fidelity International, one of the world's largest fund management companies. Earlier this month Lloyds was warned that credit ratings agency Moody's could downgrade its A1 unsecured debt rating. The preceding week the company announced that chief executive Horta-Osorio had been diagnosed with extreme fatigue due to overwork and had been ordered by his doctors to rest, wiping £1bn off its share price even though he promised to return to work before Christmas. The firm has lost 65.34% on its share price over the past year, equivalent to 41.4p.Top Director BuysSirius Minerals (SXX) Director name: Mr Russell Scrimshaw Amount purchased: 1,000,000 @ 23.65p Value: £236,500Capital Shopping Centres Group (CSCG) Director name: Mr John Whittaker Amount purchased: 50,782 @ 302.20p Value: £153,463Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY) Director name: Mr Glen MorenoAmount purchased: 200,000 @ 22.09p Value: £44,180Brooks Macdonald Group (BRK) Director name: Mr Nicholas HolmesAmount purchased: 3,361 @ 1,183.50p Value: £39,777Renewable Energy Generation Ltd.
