Legal & General Group (L&G) will unveil its half-year results on Tuesday after declaring that it wants to increase its investment in Britain's infrastructure.The financial services company signalled a £12bn boost to the UK economy, saying it wants to raise investment in infrastructure from £3.0bn to £15bn over the next decade. Chief Executive, Nigel Wilson, said L&G wants use its investment funds to support transport and energy projects, housebuilding, property and education.L&G has already invested £500m in student accommodation, injected funds into St George's Park National Football Centre at Burton Upon Trent and bought 46% of housebuilder, Cala Group. "Our focus is on the here and now," Wilson told The Sunday Telegraph."It's fine to have this list of things we can invest in from 2020 and 2025, but we think there's a need to get on with a number of things now." L&G currently has assets under management of £441bn, more than double the £205bn in 2005.Analysts expect the insurer to post a 22% increase in half-year revenues to £1.08bn and a rise in operating profits to £582m from £518m in the same period of 2012, according to the newspaper.Another FTSE 100 company releasing first half results on Tuesday is banking group Standard Chartered.Investec analysts last month said they expect the company to deliver earnings per share of $1.22 and pre-tax profit of $4.0bn. Revenue was forecast at $9.8bn.Tuesday will also be a busy day of economic reports including the release of industrial and manufacturing production and new car registration figures in the UK.
